Okay this is a blog post to try and figure out how to get trimmed blog teasers in a view. Drupal 6 has a few quirks and this is one of them.

For whatever reason the views are going to show the full body of the blog. You have to go into the view and delete the full body field. Then add a teaser field which is no available in CCK. The blog comes with D6 and there are no fields to manipulate unless you add them.

The best workaround is probably to disable blog content and create a similarly named cck content type.
